This, and more. Although, AFAIR Philips actually marketed the standalone 
"audio CD-copy" machine where you had (?) to use special "raw audio CDs" 
and these cost more... so you cannot blame them for not cashing in :-)

Yepp. It's just that: a kind of tax. Exists here as well. You even have 
to pay it for eg CF crds or memory sticks.
